托福考试写作中，“to”和“for”的用法你了解吗？

 

　　在托福考试写作和口语中，很多同学们往往会分不清楚to和for两个介词之间的用法。今天A加未来小编为大家提供一次比较详细的指导，来帮助同学们更准备的进行这两个词的运用，一起来了解一下吧！

　　1.direction/destination/distance

　　从一个地方去另一个地方(movement)。这里要注意的是，movement不只是具体的place，也可以是比较抽象的地方。

　　Do you usually take the bus to school?/If you’re feeling sick you should talk to a doctor./It’s only 6 kilometers from my house to the office.

　　2.time/time between two points

　　表述截止到的时间点，或是从某个时间点到另一个时间点。

　　I study English Monday to Thursday every week./The supermarket is open from 9 to 7.

　　3.preference

　　表达两者之间更喜欢/倾向于选择某一个的时候。

　　I prefer chocolate ice cream to vanilla ice cream.

　　4.limit/endpoint

　　表达结束点或是极限点，常与up to换用。

　　During the flood,the water came to my knees./The tickets could cost up to$200 each during the high season.

　　1.benefits

　　表达益处/好处。

　　Ginger is great for your immune system.

　　2.duration/period of time

　　表达一段时间，因此常与完成时连用。

　　They’ve been living in the city for three years already./I’ve been waiting for 20 minutes already.Where are you?

　　3.helping someone

　　表达帮助谁，或为谁做什么事情。

　　I baked a cake for you./I need to collect the mail for my mother./Could you grab those apples for me?

　　4.function/use/purpose

　　表达功能以及用途，常用for+Ving。

　　Yeast is used for baking bread./That camera is used for taking pictures underwater.

　　TO&FOR

　　(reasons/motive)

　　两个介词都可以用来表达原因或是动机，只是在用法上略有不同，to后加动词原形，for后加名词。

　　He studied English to apply for a job./She is studying French for work.

　　Attention:

　　有时候这两个动词用在同一个句子中会出现完全不同的意思哦~be careful

　　My assistant brought lunch to me.

　　(这句话中“我”是destination，我的助理实际意义上把午餐带到了我这里)

　　My boss brought lunch for me.

　　(这句话在我的上司帮我带午餐过来，强调“帮我”)
